  • Affiliate Licentiate and Associate membership with UK-CCL
  • The Institutes and Organisations accreditation and Validations

Accreditation / Validation is an imperative symbol of authorisation for any institution or organisation to confirm the creditability of their services by way of quality acknowledgment. Globally, many institutions and organisations are seeking for this endorsement to confirm the quality in the delivery of their said services. This endorsement will assist in improving their productivity and sales. The current global market is particularly interested with independent assessment and validation, in order to convince the institution’s stability, reliability and services. This accreditation / validation concept will tremendously elevate the Institutes’ and Organisations’ image. In this aspect the UK-CCL has designed a unique methodology in offering Institutes and Organisations different levels of accreditation / validation endorsement to meet the individual’s needs and facilities. To this effect, the UK-CCL has three levels of membership. The membership grades as follows: - Affiliate, Licentiate and Associate To this effect, the UK-CCL has designed two levels of membership for the Further Higher Education Providers. The membership grades are Affiliate and Licentiate.

  • Affiliate Grade and benefits

This is the primary level of membership. The membership would be renewed on a yearly basis. This grade of membership would give the facility of using UK-CCL logo to confirm the alliance. It however does not permit the usage of the UK-CCL QMS 2005 logo, in any of their marketing materials. The applicants are permitted to publicise their grade of membership, in their website or letterheads. The applicant must be a legally registered educational entity or vocational organisation, permitted to conduct professional Qualifications and Training programmes with the appropriate level of professional facilitators. This membership grade is the preliminary level of UK-CCL accreditation / validation. Institutions or organisations should provide full information of their registration documentations, management and functional structure, aims, objectives and services delivered. Being the preliminary level of membership, the Executive Board of Assessors have sanctioned that the assessor is permitted to give an assurance as to the initial acceptance to the affiliate grade. But the applicant must provide all the information, which is requested by UK-CCL in order to be considered in offering this level of membership. The Assessing Board has the full right to refuse the membership application, if they are not satisfied with the information’s supplied. The UK-CCL will definitely obtain references in order to confirm the creditability. The Affiliate Grade is considered as the External Centres. Therefore all the assessment and validations are carried out externally by the duly appointed UK-CCL Representatives. Any institutions or organisations that wish to upgrade their membership may apply to the Executive Board of Assessors upon completion of first
year of Affiliate Grade acceptance. This grade of membership would also give the applicant the prime privilege of jointly offering the UK-CCL Skills, Proficiency and Recognition Endorsement Certificates respectively for any suitable candidates that they deem suitable.

  • Licentiate Grade and who can get benefit of the same

This is the second level of membership. The entry research consistent to this level of membership is via the Affiliate Grade. The Licentiate Grade level permits the usage of the UK-CCL QMS 2005 logo. Qualifying members may apply to upgrade their membership. The Licentiate Grade is offered to Intuitions, who are facilitating Higher Professional Qualifications or Organisations who are providing in-house Vocational Training facilities. The intuitions or organisations must be a legally registered entity authorised to offer their dedicated services in their respective countries. The applicant must have adequate facilities along with management, administrative, tutorial, training staff and an appropriate level of professional programmes. The respective organizations and industries should also have their own Human Resource and Training Departments. The organisation must have their own Handbook and Category of the services that they render to the public. They must adhere to the laws of the land including providing Health and Safety facilities. For the Licentiate Grade Membership, there would be an initial site visit by the UK-CCL representatives and thereafter an annual visit would be carried out. The Licentiate Grade Membership would be valid for one year and is renewed annually. The advantage of this membership will be that the approved applicant would be authorised to use the UK-CCL Logo and the UK-CCL QMS 2005 logo to confirm their alliances. This authorisation would also grant permission to use the logo and the quality mark in their marketing materials and website or letterheads. They are permitted to publicise their grade of membership and to apply for the UK-CCL Joint award scheme. The additional benefit of this membership is that it would give the opportunity in appointing one person as the Head of Internal Assessors with the approval of UK-CCL Executive Board of Assessors. The position is reviewed on a yearly basis to maintain a high quality standard of assessment.

  • Associate Grade

This Grade of Membership is specially designed for awarding bodies such as Universities, Corporate Training Institutions and Professional Bodies. All the applicants must have the UK-CCL Affiliate Membership for a minimum period of one year to be eligible. It is a vital grade of membership of the UK-CCL. This grade of membership will be granted the use of the Quality and Bench Mark Concepts. Therefore, the applicants must know the UK-CCL Quality and Bench Mark criteria and must consider whether that they are able to maintain the stipulated requirements. This high level of membership has the authorisation and privilege to use UK-CCL Logo, Quality Mark and Bench Mark to confirm their alliances. This authorisation also grants the usage of the logo and the quality mark in their marketing materials, website, letterheads and certification. This grade of membership is renewed on a biennial basis. The organisation will have three visitations by the UK-CCL Representatives on a yearly basis. This grade would also bestow Joint awards of UK-CCL and the authorisation to use the UK-CCL QMS 2005 in their respective awards.

  • Criteria to be a Associate Member

The organisational structure, fiscal policies, and instructional philosophy of an Awarding Body must assure that their study programmes maintain quality and best practices. Areas of institutional support that are considered especially important include the following:

  • UK-CCL Examiners and Assessors

The Assessor is charged with several administrative and statutory duties. The primary duty and responsibility is to assess Qualification institutions, organisations, candidates and events at all levels. This would include Validated UK-CCL training Institutes for professional and vocational training, events authorised by UK-CCL such as workshops and seminars and evaluating candidates’ preferment. Assessors in the Assessors Panels are classified into three categories, identified as Gold, Platinum and Diamond. These identifications spell out the various authorities and responsibilities of UK-CCL authorised assessors in the specified group. In the special circumstances, the assessors in a lower group could be asked to perform assessment activity of the next higher level. This can only be authorised by the UK-CCL Head Office.

  • There are three Categories of UK-CCL Assessors
  • Assessor Gold:

The Assessor-Gold category is responsible to maintain environmental delivery standards of learning programme, conducting internal examinations and internal assessment within the Qualification institutions. Therefore this title would be given to the internal assessors of Qualification Institutes and the In-house assessors of UK-CCL, having the responsibility to recruit Qualification Institutes as Commission for Consistent Learning Validated Institutions.

  • Assessor Platinum:

The Assessor–Platinum category is the external assessor for UK-CCL Validated Institutes, Lecturers, professors, and other Academicians working part time with the respective UK-CCL for conducting and assessing knowledge and learning, upgrading seminars & workshops in the region. Platinum level assessors would also responsible for proposing a suitable formula for the UK- CCL.

  • Assessor Diamond:

The Assessors-Diamond are the members of UK-CCL-EBEA (UK-CCL – Executive Board of Examiners and Assessors) monitoring the assessment processes globally. This group is responsible in reviewing the changes in different regions. Find “Unity in Diversity “within the different levels of assessor teams. They also take part in reviewing UK-CCL newsletters; entitled ‘Globalised Education’.

  • UK-CCL External Examiners

Institutions employ external examiners in a range of roles. Besides the primary role in the assurance of the professional standards of their programmes, institutions may ask external examiners to undertake additional roles. It is important that any additional role should not conflict with or compromise the primary role. Institutions should state clearly and communicate to all concerned the various roles; powers and responsibilities assigned to the UK-CCL external examiners. By providing clear guidance on the role and authority of different types of examiners within their assessment systems, institutions will help all parties concerned with the assessment processes, including students, examiners, academic departments/schools, and individual academic staff.

A clear understanding by external examiners of the ways in which their work underpins the institution’s quality assurance processes will help them to fulfil their role effectively. Institutions will have their own procedures to enable external examiners to endorse assessment outcomes. They normally provide specific guidance both on the significance of external examiners’ signatures on documents recording the final decisions of examination boards and on the arrangements for resolving a situation where an external examiner is unwilling to endorse the outcomes of the assessment processes. This is important if misunderstandings are to be prevented and confusion avoided. It is also helpful to make explicit the extent to which the decision of an examination/assessment board, endorsed by an external examiner, limits any further consideration of the marks or awards at any subsequent stage of the examination process and/or is taken to indicate that processes have been carried out in accordance with the policy and regulations of the institution.

  • Tests and Examinations

In most cases, a test will be one part of a fully developed assessment plan. Tests are commonly used in association with cognitive goals in order to review candidates’ achievements with respect to a common body of knowledge associated with a discipline or programme. UK-CCL has traditionally used tests in assessment programming to measure whether candidates have acquired a certain process and content-related knowledge. Tests designed for a specific curriculum can often prove more valuable when assessing candidates’ achievement than commercial instruments. These tests focus on the missions, goals, and objectives of the study programme and permit useful projections of candidates’ behaviour and learning. A well-constructed and carefully administered test that is graded by two or more judges for the specific purpose of determining programme strengths and weaknesses remains one of the most popular instruments for assessing most majors.

  • Accreditation of Custom-Build course Internationally

Since 2001 a number of developments in UK higher education have encouraged the Assessment Agencies to begin a revision of Qualification standard and to review the structure of the sections and to replace the original ‘precepts and guidance’ structure with a “precepts and explanation” approach. The higher education community has identified as important for the assurance of academic quality and standards and which individual institutions are able to demonstrate they are addressing effectively through their own management and organisational processes. The accompanying explanations are provided to help institutions to understand why the precepts are important. How an institution chooses to address the precepts is for itself to determine, in the light of its own needs, traditions, culture, and decision-making processes. In the UK's system of higher education, institutions are responsible for the quality of the education they provide and the academic standards of the awards they offer. The education providers’ main principal in maintaining nationally comparable standards within autonomous higher education institutions and the external examiner being one of a number of independent and impartial advisers used by them. Enhancing academic standards will vary, depending on individual mission, size, curriculum structures and other factors. This will use external examiners to help them monitor the academic standards of all their awards, except those granted on an honorary basis. External examiners act as independent and impartial advisers providing institutions with informed comment on the standards set, and the candidate’s achievement in relation to those standards. External examining is therefore an integral and essential part of institutional quality assurance. It is the responsibility of each institution to establish criteria and guidance for external examining that enable its academic standards to be benchmarked and maintained.
